Startgaze is an independent astronomy blog — celestial event previews, plain-language science explainers, honest gear notes, and a strong bias toward dark Mediterranean skies. 3–5 articles a week. No cosmic ballet.
The project is built and maintained by Maksim Danilchenko, a Cyprus-based engineering lead and amateur observer.
About Maksim
I’m Engineering Lead at inDrive, startup advisor, and the person behind this and several other projects. I live in Cyprus and spend most of my time building things: leading engineering teams during the day, writing code and launching side projects in the evenings.
What I do
- Engineering leadership at inDrive — one of the world’s largest ride-hailing platforms
- Startup advising — helping early-stage teams make better technical decisions
- Open source — maintaining projects like aiochclient, an async Python client for ClickHouse
Other projects
- PageBloom — turn any GitHub repo into a website
- NotesPilot — intelligent writing companion
- MyDevKit — dev tools: format, encode, generate, convert — all in your browser, your data never leaves your machine
- danilchenko.dev — AI-powered agentic publishing pipeline covering research, AI tools, and tech
Interests
Programming, AI, databases, distributed systems, electronic music production, amateur astronomy, and trying to ship as many pet projects as humanly possible.
